Transforming Water Access for a Community

The tequila industry thrives in Jalisco, Mexico, yet many communities lack reliable access to clean water. San Pedro de los Landeros (SPL) is one such case, where 51 families currently face limited water access with unpredictable schedules.

Gente Buena Foundation is Changing the Narrative:

In partnership with Pronatura, a leading environmental organization, GBF is building a comprehensive water security program for SPL. This project has the potential to serve not only the 176 residents directly but also indirectly benefit an estimated 2,000 people in surrounding communities through improved watershed health.

Our Impact – Water for All by 2024:

• Immediate interventions: Installation of 5,000-liter cisterns for each household and a new pipeline are underway, ensuring 24/7 access to clean water for all 176 residents by end of 2024.

Building a Sustainable Future – Invest in Nature-Based Solutions:

Our two-year plan, focuses  on:

• Recharging the aquifer: Implementing nature-based solutions in 3 watersheds to replenish SPL’s water source. This includes green water retention systems, soil and water conservation, waterways restoration, and reforestation.
• Building resilience: Empowering the community through education and promoting sustainable water management practices.
